Relationship Evidence

You will need to provide sufficient evidence, typically including but not limited to:

* Certificate of marriage or civil union

* Proof of cohabitation (such as joint bills, tenancy agreement)

* Evidence of financial connections (such as joint accounts, jointly owned property)

* Evidence of social relationships (such as letters of support from relatives and friends, photos and others)

 

Sponsor Eligibility:

A New Zealand citizen or permanent resident can sponsor a maximum of two partners in their lifetime, provided they meet certain character and residency requirements.

 

Application process

The process generally falls into two pathways:

  • Onshore application (the partner already holds a valid visa in New Zealand)

  • Offshore application

The process includes document preparation, application submission, immigration department review, and possible interviews.
